Interesting? Not here!

Well, my life right now revolves around diapers, nap struggles, laundry, giggles and dinner time.

I love it! But typing one-handed while nursing takes WAY too long. The only semi-interesting thing I can think of is that I started reading The Three Musketeers in the original French. So far I'm enjoying it.

Oh, and Josh and I have instituted one night during the week where we read together out loud. Right now we're reading Treasure Island and it's super exciting! It makes me wish I didn't know as much about the story as I do, because it's so thrilling. We just can't wait for what happens next, but the anticipation is sure enjoyable.

And now, time to change the laundry! For the record, buying cheap diapers does not save me money, because what I save per diaper I end up spending by using more of them during the day and having to do laundry far more often. Target brand, I'm talking about you.

This is a big pain, because did I mention that I found a brand of diaper I liked that was cheaper? I thought White Cloud diapers were great! And now I can't find them anymore.

Well, what did I say? Laundry, diapers, etc.

Where will we be?

In June of next year (2010) Josh will graduate with his Masters of Accountancy.

By fall semester 2010 I have no idea where we'll be, as Josh is investigating PhD programs in Accounting, Strategy, or Organizational Behavior (all Business Administration degrees). We're currently looking at a few different schools.

For example, we might end up in one of my favorite areas of the country. Great weather, close to family, and lots of fun things to do nearby!

Or this lovely town has a school that gives great stipends (adjusted for family size) and is in a beautiful setting!


Or here, a fabulous city with tons of culture!


We may even end up here! In the great white north!


Could it possibly be that we'd defect to Mother England? YEA, VERILY!



Apparently, anything is possible! Even applications to business schools in 5 different countries!

Sleep helps

Who knew? I feel better when I get a fair amount of sleep!

Leo only woke up once last night (4 a.m.) so I got a decent amount of sleep and am feeling chipper today.

I spent half an hour last night cleaning up the house before going to bed, and it makes such a huge difference in feeling happy about getting up in the morning. I start out ready for the day, and I don't feel behind at 7:30 in the morning.

Natalie asked for a daily dinner update, so she can get new ideas. I'll make something to put on the side of the blog when I get around to it. For the moment, I'll just post.

Yesterday, in a sleep-deprived stupor, I did 7 loads of laundry and shopped three grocery stores.

I got puked on three times.

My current favorite brand of cheap diapers is no longer at the local walmart.

And I tried to take a nap, but was jolted awake three times in my 40 peaceful mostly non-sleeping minutes for various issues that had to be dealt with.

Today's been better. I had to go grocery shopping again (don't ask), and I've folded 2 1/2 loads of laundry.

I'm still tired. But at least I figured out that if we put him in the bouncer, Leo wakes up a whole lot less even though he's stuffy and having a tough time.

Too good to be true

I won't go into details because I'm typing this one-handed.

I can successfully put the kids to sleep in one room. But because of colds, it hasn't lasted all night. We've not had a whole lot of sleep the last two nights.

Last night, for example, Leo woke up at 10, 11, 12, 2:30, 3:30, 4:20, 5:20, and 6:15. Then for good at 7:45.

I hate stuffy noses on little babies.

Too good to be true?

My kids slept in the same room last night. I put them to bed at the same time, but Leo had trouble falling asleep so I went back in after he'd cried for 5 minutes and nursed him and laid him to bed again.

They both slept until 1:30 when I got up and nursed Leo while Guy continued to sleep.

Then at 5:15 Guy woke up crying, so I went and cuddled him for a few minutes. Put him back in bed, nursed Leo, then Guy started crying again so I changed him and his soggy pants (good grief can that kid soak things!) and put them both back to bed. They were both awake when I left, but I heard no more noise until 7:45.

This could be a beautiful thing.

In not so nice news, today my throat is swollen and it hurts to swallow or talk much. Kind of obnoxious, as I'm just getting over the plugged-up-ear thing that lasted almost two weeks.

Please explain

Why is it that the people we love the most drive us crazy sometimes?

I had to pray my way out of bed this morning. It worked, and I've had a great day, but dang if those first five minutes weren't AWFUL.

I don't really miss the computer. It's been good for me to have some time away from mindless internet surfing. My house is slowly but surely getting more organized and cleaner (did I mention the slowly part?). My marriage is still strong.

And I need to get up the guts to tell Josh that his working at home is driving me crazy. Or I could just put on my happy face and tough it out for another five weeks until school starts again. Hmmm . . . . I just don't want to make him sad. He's having a hard enough time readjusting to normal life, I can't bear to think that I might make things harder for him. It's been three weeks, but the Air Force has left its mark on my husband, for better or for worse.

And on that cheerful note, I'm going to bed! Hopefully my kids will sleep well, although they both went to bed around 9 p.m. and I don't have high expectations. By the way, thanks for the pie, Amy!

Sad face

My computer is kaput. We're not sure what's broken, but it has something to do with the fan part.

So my posting, which was spotty to begin with, will be even more so from here until we decide what to do.

Apparently the labor alone to fix this particular issue is $400. Ouch.

But Josh has a job! I have a dishwasher! I am AWESOME and a great cook and love my new More-With-Less Cookbook (published by the Mennonite Central Committee).

So I'm gonna go read Treasure Island with my handsome husband and listen to the hum of my new dishwasher. Which I love. Big pink fluffy heart L-O-V-E. :-D

For those who oppose the gruesome reality of abortion

I'm signing a petition to oppose the nomination of Gov. Sebelius to be Obama's Health and Human Services Secretary. Her blatant disregard for human life, and her claims to being Catholic while being one of the foremost pro-abortion at all costs politicians on today's scene disgust me.
