Another man down

Leo's sick now. He's got a fever, runny nose, cough, is pretty fussy, and has been throwing up. Although that may simply be a result of symptoms 2 and 3.

So, to the doctor we go. I've never taken Guy to the doctor for being sick, but I guess Leo has the disadvantage that his big brother can bring home all sorts of nasty germs. Well, and with Leo I'd be tempted to wait another day had the doctor last week not expressly said to bring him in if he gets a fever (his ears weren't as clear as they should have been, possible precursor to an ear infection).

Hopefully we'll all be on the mend soon. Guy is recovering nicely; his appetite is back and the congestion is almost completely gone, as is his fever. My fever is gone, as is the cough that replaced it, but now I'm congested. Crazy.

Josh is still healthy, lucky boy. Thus ends the sick report.

Sick, sick, sick

Conference was great, but I've been sick since Friday. Guy's been sick since Friday. Leo's doing pretty well, and I hope he doesn't get what Guy and I've had because it's pretty miserable.

Hopefully we'll all be better soon. In the meantime, I have laundry to catch up on (Friday was laundry day). And life to keep living.

Guy is still sleeping and it's 9:30, so I'm guessing he's still feeling pretty gross.

Naptime

Naptime for me is the ultimate balancing act. There are so many things I feel pulled to do, and I have about 45 minutes of time (on a good day) when neither of the boys needs me.

Do I shower and get dressed? I know that I really need a good routine, but I don't have one in place so yes I am still in pj's.

Do I take a nap? After all, I was up a whole lot last night. Or I could take some time to relax and read.

I could work on my language skills, reading in French, or listening to the news.

There's a mountain of dishes this afternoon to attack. Won't take too long, but sounds pretty unappealing, doesn't it? Or there are muffing I wanted to bake, I suppose I could do that.

I think my life is suffering from lack of sufficient structure. Maybe if I kept to a better routine or schedule, then I could jump off this roller coaster of insane high's and crazy low's that is my emotional state of being.

Instead, maybe I'll just have a discussion with myself on the way I'm living my life.

Sleep?

Apparently not.

Guy was up three times last night. Leo managed four. Only once at the same time. Dang.

Today I'm making carrot puree a la Jessica Seinfeld. We'll see how it goes.

NEWEST PHD CONSIDERATION: Oxford

Interesting? Not here!

Well, my life right now revolves around diapers, nap struggles, laundry, giggles and dinner time.

I love it! But typing one-handed while nursing takes WAY too long. The only semi-interesting thing I can think of is that I started reading The Three Musketeers in the original French. So far I'm enjoying it.

Oh, and Josh and I have instituted one night during the week where we read together out loud. Right now we're reading Treasure Island and it's super exciting! It makes me wish I didn't know as much about the story as I do, because it's so thrilling. We just can't wait for what happens next, but the anticipation is sure enjoyable.

And now, time to change the laundry! For the record, buying cheap diapers does not save me money, because what I save per diaper I end up spending by using more of them during the day and having to do laundry far more often. Target brand, I'm talking about you.

This is a big pain, because did I mention that I found a brand of diaper I liked that was cheaper? I thought White Cloud diapers were great! And now I can't find them anymore.

Well, what did I say? Laundry, diapers, etc.

Where will we be?

In June of next year (2010) Josh will graduate with his Masters of Accountancy.

By fall semester 2010 I have no idea where we'll be, as Josh is investigating PhD programs in Accounting, Strategy, or Organizational Behavior (all Business Administration degrees). We're currently looking at a few different schools.

For example, we might end up in one of my favorite areas of the country. Great weather, close to family, and lots of fun things to do nearby!

Or this lovely town has a school that gives great stipends (adjusted for family size) and is in a beautiful setting!


Or here, a fabulous city with tons of culture!


We may even end up here! In the great white north!


Could it possibly be that we'd defect to Mother England? YEA, VERILY!



Apparently, anything is possible! Even applications to business schools in 5 different countries!
