I received a book in the mail today (Thanks, Mutti!) titled 12 Steps to Raw Foods. My in-laws have switched over to a diet that consists mainly of raw foods, and are seeing the advantages of such a lifestyle. I'm still hesitant that I can do it, but I want to try to incorporate more raw fruits and vegetables.
We've already switched to raw milk, which tastes better than any milk I've ever had. Except fresh whole goat's milk. And that's probably because the raw milk we purchase is skim.
Guy and I have started eating more raw fruits and vegetables, too. I find that's an easy way to get a lot of food that's filling for not much money. I can go and spend $20 on produce that will get us through the week with significant amounts of raw fruits and veg every day.
Josh really likes the food processor salad idea, where you grate or slice everything using a food processor, resulting in smaller and more manageable pieces. I'm still getting used to it. I would love to start drinking green smoothies, but Josh is rather hesitant. I should just start making them for myself and Guy, then. I haven't yet, though. But I will. Next week, I promise I will make at least one green smoothie.

What is a "green" smoothie? I don't think I could ever do the raw thing. I like cooking too much :)
I was drinking a glass of milk just last night and had to stop with just a mouthful left. I suddenly thought of all the hormones and antibiotics they gave that cow so that it could stand in a stall and be milked all day. And I thought, would I want my baby to drink my milk if I was hopped up on such drugs?
And I couldn't finish the glass.
Now, I've drank milk since (breakfast wouldn't have been the same without it), but it's definitely got me thinking. Too bad raw, organic milk is so expensive!
Hi. Our family has swiched back to raw milk recently. We love it. I feel like Beth about all the extra garbage they put in store milk. We are lucky enough to have an organic butcher locally who also carries raw organic milk. And the best part is that it is cheaper than the namebrand milk that claims to be antibiotic free.
