Quick update

I've been absent because the computer's been off during the day, and I've been sick, and I don't yet know how to get my operating system to recognize my camera in order to upload photos.

But Guy had 4 hours of television this week, as I had a fever on Wednesday and Thursday and slept the afternoons away.

I'm happy, but we also had a TON of fun doing all our planned activities talking, reading, and learning about music. I plan to do this again, but didn't plan much for this week because SURPRISE! I'm exhausted from 18 days of someone being ill in this house.

Please don't ask about my weekend, because it was awful to feel so tired trying to recover, chasing after two kids, and taking care of Josh who got sick.

But this no TV thing? It's great. I plan to keep it up for the majority of our days.

I agree, you are an amazing lady!I'm glad you are feeling better. That site you linked to in your previous post is pretty cool. She has som fun ideas for themes. I'll have to try it. We gave our tv away before we moved in January and still don't have one. It's great, for the most part, because it is not a constant temptation to have it on. But, I do have to go for the occasionaly planet earth or other dvd while I'm trying to cook dinner and too many hands aren't working!

Emily, I have always admired you - you crazy awesome mama. When I was in the last few months of my pregnancy, all Vince saw was the TV (granted, I also had a monster sinus infection for practically the entire last month... that didn't help much). We've slowly been cutting down TV time. He watches two shows in the morning on PBS kids, and then occasionally he'll watch a Disney movie with his dad in the evenings (that's a dad thing... I don't think I'll ever be able to convince him to get rid of the TV). Anyway, your theme-week inspired me. I had already decided to plan more preschool-esque activities to do each week. This week ended up being great because we got to go to the aquarium, and we're going to the market and to see a bunch of sea lions tomorrow. None of that really fits in with our "colors and shapes" theme... but hey, as long as we're doing something other than watching TV, I think we're on a good track. You are an amazing example to me.

I love leaving the tv off. It makes it a great tool to use when you really do need a distraction. You are great!
