I think we have a diagnosis

I'm not counting my chickens before they're hatched, but as of right now we think it's Guillain-Barre syndrome.

I don't know, but it's possible that Josh was given a flu vaccine upon arriving at basic which might have triggered a relapse.

But he signed the separation papers today, and with seven more signatures he'll be free to come home. (It should take between one and two weeks if all goes well)

It's good and scary to have a diagnosis. That isn't a fun one to read up on, but at least it's a starting point. I'm so sorry about all this, Em. We'll keep praying for you!!

Wow. I know you said nothing's certain for sure, but how nice is it to have a name (even if they're not sure, and it's just a starting point), as opposed to "some weird unknown nervous system chronic problem."

There's light at the end of the tunnel! The only thing I've heard about that diagnosis is some commercial saying you shouldn't take some medication if you have guillain-barrae syndrome. I don't remember what the medication was, but I hope that all goes well and we're excited that you guys will be coming home SOONER rather than LATER! We want to see that baby Leo again (and of course our favorite Guy) :)

Love you :)

Yikes, and relief at the same time, eh? I don't know how it works in your case (since Josh didn't finish basic) but if something that was required in the military causes permanent health problems, there are some disability benefits that you can apply for. (Something like workers-comp). Anyway, just so you know. It might help out if there are going to be problems for a while.

I love you guys, and we're praying for you. I hope we get to see you guys again some day when we're in the same city again! :D
